Heather (Bourgault) Fraticelli was a threesport athlete. A former record holder in the 300m, 400m, long jump and 4 X 400m, the track teams captured many team championships and many individual honors for Heather. Captain of both the Indoor and Outdoor track teams her senior year, Heather also received the Sportsmanship Awards for both sports. Heather was All-State eight times and all-FCIAC nine times. She was also a State-Open champion five times and All-New England four times. In Heather’s junior year, the Indoor and Outdoor track teams came in second place at both the FCIAC and CIAC meets. However in 2002, Heather’s senior year, the Indoor team was first place FCIAC Champions, State L Champions and State Open Champions. In Outdoor Track and Field, the team finished as both FCIAC and State LL Champions. She was also New England champion in the 400m. After Heather’s graduation, she earned an athletic and academic scholarship to Iona College. While at Iona, Heather competed in Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track for her years there. While at Iona, Heather was a two-time MAAC Conference Champion in 400 meters and the Distance Medley Relay (DMR). She was an Iona College record holder in the DMR, the 400 meters and the 500 meters. Heather was also a three-time ECAC qualifier in both the 400 meters and 500 meters. She also was an ECAC qualifier in the DMR. While at Iona, Heather was on the All-MAAC Academic team for all her qualifying years. She was also the Student-Athlete of the Week and the Gael Of the Year Award recipient for the 2005-06 school year. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Iona with a B.A. in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Heather also received her M.S. in Communication Disorders from Southern Connecticut State University. She is currently a speech-language pathologist for Ridgefield Public Schools. Still running, Heather competes in 5K’s, half-marathons, and has completed three marathons.
