CAREER ACADEMY CONCEPT


Career Academies are designed to prepare students for both college and careers.  They are schools within schools that link students with peers, teachers and community partners in a structured environment that fosters academic success. They include three key elements:

- Small learning community
- College preparatory sequential curriculum with a career theme
- Advisory Board that forges partnerships with employers, higher 
education, and the community

- Transformation to Wall to Wall Academy Model with 7 academies with 19 pathways
- Greater access to advanced course opportunities across all academies
- Focused electives and pathways that lead to industry-recognized credentials for both career and college readiness
- Hands-on Project-Based Learning, and authentic opportunities to learn and practice Portrait of the Graduate
  attributes
- Courses culminate in an industry-recognized certificate
- Positions students to earn a certificate of completion of an apprenticeship
