This 1990 DHS graduate gained over 2,000 yards and scored 40 touchdowns, 2011 Hall of Fame inductee, Tim Smith. During the 1989 season, Tim led the Hatters to an 8-2 record, rushing for 945 yards and catching eight passes for 120 yards. As defensive back, Tim's teammates called him the "Milkman", and he averaged five tackles, intercepted four passes and recovered three fumbles. In 1989 DHS Coach Doug Morrell called Tim "the best all-around running back I've coached in eight years". Tim garnered many awards in his career. He received FCIAC honors and was a 1988 Daily News All Star. He was also the WINE "Player of the Year", KC101 Coach George DeMaio Athlete of the Week, and on the News-Times All Area team. Also in 1988, Tim was a Bridgeport Post-Telegram All-Star, winning the Class AAA Offensive Player of the Year Award. It was reported that it was only the second time in the 15-year history of the Post-Telegram football All-Star team that one school won both Player of the Year honors: Tim Smith as Offensive Player of the Year and 2007 DHS Hall of Fame inductee Paul Duckworth as Defensive Player of the Year. In 1989 Tim was named All-State by both the Hartford Courant and the New Haven Register as well as repeating as a Bridgeport Post-Telegram All-Star and Offensive Player of the Year in his class. Upon his graduation from Danbury High in 1990, Tim earned a four year scholarship to play football at Delaware State University.
