Michael Guilbeault
(Baseball, 1991)
This 2024 Danbury High School Athletic Hall of Fame inductee excelled in both
baseball and football, Michael Guilbeault. As a sophomore in 1989, Michael batted .476
with nine homeruns and 26 RBI’s. He won the FCIAC batting title and was named All-
FCIAC and All-Area. As a New York Daily News All-Star, he played in the game at
Yankee Stadium. During his junior year, he batted .609 with 39 hits. He again won the
FCIAC batting title and was All-Area and All-FCIAC. Aside from being All-State, he
again played at Yankee Stadium as a New York Daily News All-Star. During Michael’s
senior year, the accolades continued. He hit .478 with nine triples. Along with All-Area,
All-FCIAC and All-State he again played at Yankee Stadium as a Daily News All-Star.
Michael also played in the Connecticut High School Coaches Senior All-Star game. As
a District 1 New England All-Star, he travelled to Europe to play in a tournament.
Michael was baseball captain both his junior and senior year. As a senior, the DHS
baseball team was FCIAC West Champions, FCIAC runner-up.
For the DHS football team, Michael was a two-way starter for his sophomore,
junior and senior years. He played fullback, halfback, strong safety and cornerback.
His junior year, Michael was All-FCIAC defense at strong safety. As senior captain, he
was again All-FCIAC Defense at strong safety and was awarded the DHS Booster Club
Sportsmanship Award. During his senior year, the football team was FCIAC Champions
and Class LL State Tournament runner-up.
After his 1991 graduation from Danbury High, Michael continued his academic
and athletic career on a baseball scholarship at the University of Connecticut. He was a
three-year starter in the outfield, serving as team captain his senior year. In 1993,
UConn was a NCAA Regional participant, with Oklahoma State as host. That year,
Michael was tied for the team lead in homeruns. The following year, 1994, the team
was Big East Tournament Champions. Wichita State was the host of UConn’s NCAA
bid. In the summer of his junior year, Michael played in the first season of the New
England College Baseball League (NECBL) with the Waterbury White Sox.
Michael works in the banking industry as an Executive Director of Strategic
Execution and Analytics.
