E.J. Harrison Jr.
(Basketball, 1994)
In the late 1980’s and
early 1990’s the DHS basketball team was one of the most prominent
basketball programs in the state of Connecticut. One of the best players
of that era was 1994 graduate E.J. Harrison. His four year career
culminated in his selection on the News-Times All Area team, the All-
FCIAC team, the CIAC All State team as well as being named captain of
the Hatter five in 1993-94. In both his junior and senior years the
Hatters were runner up in the LL state basketball tournaments. After
graduation E.J. attended Western Connecticut State University and had a
great deal of success on the hardwood there. He was Little East
Conference Rookie of the Year in 1995 and 1st team all conference in
1996. E.J. decided to then take a gamble with his basketball career and
walk on at the University of Connecticut. He impressed Coach Calhoun and
made the team which culminated in two Big East Championships and one
National Championship in 1999. Since E.J. left UConn in 1999 he has
played professional basketball in Great Britain. In 2000, 2001, 2002 and
2004 his team was the British League Champions and E.J. was league MVP
in 2001, 2002 and 2004.
