Michael Tarsi

Danbury High Hall of Fame inductee was an outstanding pitcher for the
baseball team that won the FCIAC championship his junior year and the
state LL championship his senior year, 2004 graduate Michael Tarsi.
During his playing years for Coach Shawn Ratchford, while the baseball
team won championships and many games, Michael earned many individual
honors. In 2003, his junior year, Michael had an 8-1 record. The DHS
baseball team won the FCIAC championship, and Michael was the MVP of the
game. He was also All-Area and All-State. During his senior season, the
baseball team went 24-2 and won the state LL championship. Michael was
11-1 and was named Louisville Slugger Connecticut Player of the Year,
the Hartford Courant Player of the Year, and the New Haven Register
Player of the Year. He was also named All- State, All-FCIAC, and
All-Area. After his graduation from Danbury High, Michael continued his
academic and playing career at the University of Connecticut. While at
UConn, Michael was three time Big East Pitcher of the Week. During his
last playing season for UConn, his junior year, the team was 34-27.
Michael’s record was 6-4, and he was the winning pitcher in UConn’s Big
East Tournament victory over the University of Pittsburgh. On June 8,
2007, Michael was drafted by the Minnesota Twins. While pitching for
various teams in the Twins’ organization, Michael made it to their AAA
team. He was on the minor league team that was Appalachian League
Champions. He was a NECBL All-Star and Twins Pitcher of the Month. After
the Twins organization, Michael played for the Bluefish in Bridgeport
then spent time with the Atlanta Braves. He expects to finish his UConn
degree in family sciences this fall. Michael and his wife, Kate are
running the north Atlantic expansion of the Dirty Hands Merchandising
Company. But the elegant lefty is still involved in the game he loves
through pitching lessons and clinics.
