This next 2011 Hall of Fame inductee was an impact player in both basketball and baseball, 1987 graduate Timothy Salem. Tim was also a teacher, coach, and assistant principal at Danbury High School before becoming the principal of Scotts Ridge Middle School in Ridgefield. While on the basketball team at Danbury High, Tim had the best assist/turnover ratio in Coach Ken Smith's coaching tenure. The teams he played on from 1985-1987 made the post-season. He was team captain his senior year and was selected by coaches to play in "Senior Fest", an All Star game in New Haven. As co-captain of the baseball team his season year, Tim played second base and logged many innings as a middle reliever pitcher. Tim was the Sportsmanship Award winner his senior year for both baseball and basketball. After his graduation from Danbury High, Tim continued his basketball career at Eastern Connecticut State University where he was recognized as a scholar-athlete his second semester freshman year. Right out of college, Tim began his coaching career at Danbury High School. He coached the DHS boys freshman basketball team from 1992- 1995 and the jayvee team from 1995-96. Then he coached the Bethel High School Boys varsity team for three years before being asked to take the assistant's opening at Western Connecticut State University under Coach Bob Campbell. Then in 2004 Tim had a successful year coaching the Newtown Girls basketball team, playing in the SWC Championship game and making it to the state quarterfinals. Tim retired from coaching to become Danbury High assistant principal in 2004. As mentioned previously, Tim is currently a principal in Ridgefield. In 2006, Tim was awarded the Mahatma Gandhi-Martin Luther King Jr. Award by the Connecticut Education Association. In 2009 Tim was named Assistant Principal of the Year by the Connecticut Association of Schools and received the "Spirit of Anne Frank Award". Tim has been married for nine years to his wife, Sasha, and they have two children, Alexandra and Kenneth.
