Jason Newton
(Track, 1993)
Track and Field has a tradition
of great success at Danbury High School. In the early 1990’s our next
inductee was the dominant force in that era of track and field success-
1993 graduate Jason Newton. The number of titles and records he held are
numerous and include being FCIAC champion in the 45meter, 100meter,
200meter, 300meter, and 400meter, multiple times. He held a total of
eight state and open titles in the 100meter, 200meter, and 300 meter. He
was the New England 300meter champion and held the New England record
in that event for eight years. After high school Jason attended the
University of Rhode Island and continued his track success by being a
multiple time New England champion and record holder in the 200meter. He
was also the Atlantic 10 champion in the same event. Jason continued
his education after URI and received a Master’s Degree in elementary
education from Roger Williams University and is currently a third grade
teacher in Georgia. He is married with a son and lives in Peach Tree,
Georgia.
