Paul Duckworth's career, both at DHS and at the University Connecticut, is nothing short of legendary. As a two year starter at both guard and defensive tackle Paul was a vital cog in the resurgence of Danbury football in the late 1980's. According to his coach Doug Morrell Paul was the "best lineman I've ever coached at Danbury-he controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball." Additionally Paul was, again according to Coach Morrell, "as kind and hard working a leader as I've ever had." The list of accolades and awards in high school is a long one. He was a News-Times all area selection in 1987 and 1988, A Connecticut Post all area selection for the same two years as well as making the Hartford Courant and New Haven Register's all state team those years as well. In 1988 he was the Connecticut Post AAA Player of the Year, the New York Post's Connecticut All State team and was named Bobby Dodd Connecticut Lineman of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Atlanta. In 1998 he was named to the "Best of the Best" all time high school players by the Connecticut Post. At the University of Connecticut Paul was switched to linebacker and was a three year starter on the Uconn team. His senior year was eventful as he led the team in tackles, was named captain and made the All Yankee Conference and all ECAC teams. In the same year he was named Uconn's "Outstanding Student Athlete." His accomplishments caught the eye of the NFL and Paul was a 6th Round draft pick by the Green Bay Packers in 1994. In 1998 he was named to Uconn's all time team. After his collegiate playing days were over Paul played arena football for the Connecticut Coyotes.
