George O'Loughlin
(Track, 1998)

Another in the long line of outstanding distance runners at Danbury High School is 1999 graduate George O'Loughlin. His records at DHS are noteworthy indeed as he set school records in the 800m both indoor and outdoor, the indoor Sprint Medley Relay and the 4 X 400m indoor. In 1999 he was the 1000m and 80m State Open Champion indoor and he was an All American in the mile. His other accolades include being a 3 time FCIAC champion in the 1000m and 800m and Class L champion in the 800m outdoor. He was also a 3 time All New England selection in indoor track and a three time all FCIAC champ in cross country. An honor student, George was captain of the Hatter harriers and both indoor and outdoor track teams George continued to run at the collegiate level competing in cross country, indoor and outdoor track at Georgetown University participating in all 12 seasons as an undergraduate for the Hoyas. Perhaps more important was George's work off of the track as he became a volunteer in Ecuador for two years where he ran an after school program, taught English, and was involved with various community outreach programs. After Ecuador he worked until 2007 in Washington, DC at the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities doing research on Jesuit higher education and in 2007 he began law school at Fordham University and will graduate this coming May. George's humanitarian efforts continue today as he spent this past summer doing research on gender-based crimes at a practical legal training institute in Nyanza, Rwanda and at Fordham he is the Director of a homeless outreach clinic.
