The Danbury wrestling program is, and has been, a dominant program in the state of Connecticut for the last twenty years. Before all is said and done there will be many DHS wrestlers inducted into the Danbury Hall of Fame. Among the first to be inducted from that storied program is 1990 graduate Jeff Vitti. Take a look through the wrestling record book and Jeff's name takes a prominent place as he is in the top ten in virtually every category for the Hatter grapplers. He holds the career record for takedowns with 497 as well as the season record for the same with 242 takedowns in 1990. For a career Jeff holds the school record with 1539 points and the season record of 656 points also in 1990. In addition to his record for takedowns and points Jeff's senior year of 1989-1990 saw him garner a total of 46 wins, a winning percentage of 95.8%. In his career he won 13 tournaments, had 149 wins, 88 pins, 21 tournament places and a winning percentage of 90.6%-as well as the aforementioned record for points and takedowns. Jeff was the first four time FCIAC Champion, a four time runner up in the state LL Tournament, and he was the first DHS wrestler to win a New England Championship. That same year he he placed tenth in the high school nationals. During Jeff's four years wrestling for the Hatters the wrestling team was undefeated in 1989 and 1990 and won the LL State Championship both years. They were four time FCIAC Champions and won the New England Championship in 1990. After graduating from DHS Jeff attended Central Connecticut State University and wrestled for the Division I Blue Devils. He left Central and went to Waterbury State Technical School where he got into the IT field and is still working in that field. Besides his IT work Jeff partners in an entertainment company and has been involved in the music industry for twenty years.
