This 1983 graduate had a 58-5 record for the wrestling team, 2011 Hall of Fame inductee, Ricky Shook. While wrestling for Danbury High, his team's were FCIAC champs in 1981 and 1983, and he was a two time FCIAC champ in 1982 and 1983, and also LL State champ in 1983. After his graduation from Danbury High, Ricky continued his athletic and academic career at Central Connecticut State University. While at Central he was a four year starter at 118 pounds. In 1986 he finished third at the Division II Eastern Regional and was named team MVP. In 1987 he finished third at the Division I New England Regional and was senior captain. Ricky's four year college career record was 65-20, and he graduated from Central in 1987 with a B.S. in Management. As both an assistant and head coach of Danbury High's wrestling team, Ricky has received many honors. He was state Class LL Assistant Coach of the Year in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and Connecticut Assistant Coach of the Year in 1999. He was state Class LL Head Coach of the Year in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010 and Connecticut Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2007. The FCIAC has honored Ricky as Coach of the Year in both 2004 and 2005, and in 2008 he was recipient of the Doc McInerney Male Coach of the Year. He was named All Area Coach of the Year in 2001, 2003, 3004, 2005 and 2006. For the 2007-08 season, Ricky was the National Wrestling Coaches Association Connecticut Coach of the Year. As current Danbury High wrestling coach he is 234-12.
