Doreen Muehlfeld-Robbins
(Track, 1982)

As a track and field star of the early 1980's Doreen helped establish the girls' track program at DHS which, like their male counterpart, has become one of the strongest and dominant track programs in the state of Connecticut. Not only did Doreen get the program going in that direction as an athlete but she also played a prominent role in the success of the program as a coach. Doreen's high school achievements are many. She was a four time All- FCIAC athlete and three time All-Stater. She was captain of both the indoor and outdoor teams in her senior year and she was Rotary Club Female Athlete of the Year in 1982. She held school records in the shot put, the discuss and the 50m dash of which she still holds two of those records. Doreen attended Southern Connecticut State University and continued her track career for the Owls, earning varsity letters all four years there. Upon her 1986 graduation in Health and PE she coached the North Haven Indians Girls' Track team for a year before moving into the Danbury school system as both a Health and Physical Education teacher and a track coach. Doreen coached the Lady Hatters for thirteen years until 1999 where she then focused any extra attention she had on her children. She also did a two year stint as an assistant track coach at Shepaug High School. Doreen is still in the PE department at DHS and still has her hand in track meets. She is co-meet director for elementary and middle school track and assistant meet director for Dan O'Grady relay held at DHS. Additionally she coaches girls 11U youth soccer.
