Wrestling, 2002

This 2019 Danbury High School Athletic Hall of Fame inductee had a 146-20 wrestling record, Dennis Stone Jr. For the four years that Dennis wrestled, Danbury High School had an amazing championship run: four-time FCIAC Champions, four-time LL Champions, and three-time Connecticut State Open Champions.

Besides being a big part of the wrestling’s team’s success, Dennis also had many individual honors: four-time All-Area, four-time All-FCIAC, three-time Northeast Regional Champion (Greco-Roman and Free-Style), three-time FCIAC Champion, three-time LL State Champion (the first in DHS wrestling history), and 2002 State Open Champion.

After his graduation from Danbury High School, Dennis attended Rhode Island College. Dennis joined the Connecticut Army National Guard. He is currently serving as Danbury recruiter. Still earning honors, Dennis has been awarded the Army Achievement Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. And still involved in wrestling, Dennis is the current Danbury Middle School coach.
