(Wrestling, 1993)

To quote Ryan's wrestling coach John Nimock, "Ryan has done more with less than most kids I've ever coached. If you would have told me four years ago that Ryan Sabbagh would be a three year starter, win the FCIAC's and place in the states, I wouldn't have believed them." Yet that is exactly what Ryan did. Over his career he posted a 67-31 record including a 24-10 record as a senior, made the News-Times All Area team and All-FCIAC. He also won the "Most Improved Wrestler" Award as a senior. He accomplished this while suffering from Cystic Fibrosis which is a disease that makes it extremely difficult to breathe under normal circumstances much less the rigors of competitive wrestling. After high school Ryan went on to Central Connecticut State Univesity where he was a 1997 graduate. Unfortunately there isn't a cure for Cystic Fibrosis and Ryan passed away in 1998. For his courage and inspiration the Danbury Holiday Tournament has been renamed the Ryan Sabbagh Holiday Tournament.
