This 2005 DHS graduate still holds the program record for most pins, 2018 Hall of Fame inductee, Matt Tricario.  Matt, who was also senior captain, holds the Danbury High School wrestling record with 120 pins.  And he was never pinned during his high school playing years, either.

Matt’s total high school wrestling record was 163 wins and ten losses.  While wrestling at 171 pounds for DHS, Matt earned many honors.  He was FCIAC champion for three consecutive years, state LL champ for three consecutive years, and state open champion for two years.  In 2003, Matt finished third at the New England championship, and he finished second in 2004.  In 2005, Matt came in first place and was the New England champ and was named the Most Valuable Wrestler.

After his graduation from Danbury High School, Matt went on to study at Western Connecticut State University. Coach Ricky Shook remembers Matt this way, “ Matt was one of the best Danbury and the state of Connecticut has ever had. In high school he pinned a future NCAA finalist in the New England’s. Lots of other coaches that knew him consider him the best Danbury High School wrestler ever.”
