 Radlet Peter Radlet
Football, 1969

This 2017 Hall of Fame inductee was an outstanding athlete in two sports.  Peter was a 1969 Danbury High School graduate.  For the 1967 and 1968 football seasons, Pete was the outstanding tackle who created space and protection for outstanding plays by Darryl Dewan (2007 DHS Hall of Fame inductee) and Roberto Orellano.  Pete was honored as an All-FCIAC tackle and Honorable Mention All-State for the 1968 football season.

Pete was also a talented wrestler for coach Bob Gilchrist's squad competing in the heavyweight division.  His junior season, Pete had an 8-2 record, including five pins and three decisions.  He was rated the number three wrestler in the FCIAC heavyweight division. During the 1968 FCIAC tournament, Pete was awarded a trophy for the quickest pin of the championship with a 26 second fall.  Because of his accomplished junior season, coach Gilchrist named Pete captain for his senior season.  He capped a fine senior season by finishing second in the state tournament to his nemesis, Westport Staples wrestler Scott Karston.

After graduation from Danbury High School, Pete played football at the University of Vermont on a football scholarship.  He served as a Danbury firefighter from 1984 until his retirement in 2011.  He is currently a licensed arborist and owner of Peter L. Radlet Tree Experts.
