Lori Fazio-Estes
(Softball, 1999)
This
outstanding scholar-athlete who graduated fourth in her class, earned
many honors as a member of the Danbury High School basketball team but
it was in the sport of softball where she excelled. As a junior in high
school, Lori was First Team All-FCIAC and All-Area for softball. Besides
being a junior captain, Lori was also Danbury High School's
Scholar-Athlete for softball.
As a senior member of the basketball team at DHS, Lori was captain,
All-FCIAC Honorable mention, and DHS's Scholar-Athlete. As a senior
member of the softball team, the honors continued for the senior
captain. Lori was honored again as First Team All-FCIAC and All-Area for
softball. She was named a C.H.S.C.A. Senior All-Star and repeated as
Danbury High's Softball Scholar-Athlete. Lori was also the recipient of
the Connecticut Association of Schools Interscholastic Scholar Athlete
Award. After graduating from Danbury High School, Lori went to Ithaca
College where she majored in mathematics and continued her softball
career. A second baseman, Lori's Ithaca College teams won their Empire 8
Conference Championships in 2001 and 2002. In 2000, 2001, and 2002, the
Ithaca College softball team won the Northeast Regional Championships,
winning bids to the Division III National Championships all three years.
In the spring of 2002, the Ithaca College softball team won the
Division III National Championship in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. After her
graduation from Ithaca College in 2003, Lori taught math at Greenwich
High School. For the past eight years, she has taught at Joel Barlow
High School where she currently teaches AP Statistics and geometry. At
Barlow she is co-advisor of the Achieving and Integrity Club that is
dedicated to helping to promote achieving with integrity throughout the
high school community. She was varsity softball coach at Barlow from
2006-08 and has earned advanced degrees from both Western Connecticut
State University and Sacred Heart.
