Jessica Halas
(Soccer, 1997)
One of the all time great
multi-sport stars for Danbury High School is 1997 graduate Jessica
Halas. Jessica left her mark in three sports: soccer, softball and ski
racing. As a soccer player Jess was a four year starter, a two time
All-FCIAC performer, a two time News-Times’ All Area selection and an
All-Stater as a senior. Additionally she was the CIAC Scholar Athlete
winner and a member of the Senior Bowl team. In softball Jessica was
also a four year starter, a two time All-FCIAC athlete, and a three time
News- Times’ All Area pick. As an All-State softball selection as a
junior, Jess had a .525 batting average and 28 RBIs. As impressive as
her soccer and softball accomplishments were, her best sport may have
been Ski Racing. Jessica was a Four Time All-State Ski Racer and was
ranked as the Number One female racer in Connecticut. Jess was also a
captain in all three of the sports in which she participated. After her
incredible career in high school Jessica took her show on the road and
attended the University of New Hampshire and was a member of the varsity
soccer team at UNH. She was a four year letterman and a two year
starter for the Wildcats and also made the American East Academic Honor
Roll in 1999 and 2000. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree
in Physical Education from the University of New Hampshire. In 2002
Jessica joined the faculty at Danbury High School where she still serves
as a Physical Education teacher on Clapboard Ridge. She served as the
Varsity Girls’ Soccer Coach at Shepaug High School in 2006 and 2007 and
in 2008, she returned to coaching her alma mater and took over as the
head coach of the Lady Hatters’ soccer team.
