This 2014 Danbury High School Hall of Fame inductee was the 2002 Connecticut Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year, Andre Laboy. He earned numerous individual honors in his distinguished high school career. Andre was an All-American and a state record holder in the 5000M. In 2002, he was the New England 3200M champion and National Scholastic medalist in the two mile. In indoor track, he won the state open in 1000M and was the 3200M champion. Andre was also a 1600M indoor track FCIAC winner. The 4 X 800 was an exceptional event for Andre and DHS Track. Andre earned numerous honors including All-FCIAC, All-State and All-New England. DHS athletic programs won many championships while Andre was a member. In 2000 he was a member of the FCIAC, State Open and New England Cross Country Championship winning team. He was also a team member of the 2001 and 2002 State Open Indoor Championship teams. In 2001 he was on the Cross Country team that won both the FCIAC and State Open championships, and was the New England runner-ups. Andre was also a team captain for both the indoor and outdoor track teams. After his graduation from Danbury High School, Andre continued his distinguished running career at both St Joseph’s University and Georgetown University. In 2003, he was the Atlantic 10 individual cross country champion. In 2004 while still competing at St Joseph’s, he was the Atlantic 10 winner in indoor track in the 5000 Meter and Distance Medley Relay Champion and NCAA qualifier. While competing for Georgetown in 2007, Andre was All-Big East and a member of two NCAA qualifying teams.
