Dennis Skarda

 Skarda Dennis Skarda
Lacrosse, 2004

This 2017 Hall of Fame inductee is the first lacrosse player to be honored.  Dennis is a 2004 Danbury High School graduate.  He is still the single season DHS Boy's Lacrosse record holder in points and assists scored with 96.  His total career points were 198.

A three-year lacrosse captain, Dennis was also All-State in 2004, the only male DHS lacrosse player to earn this honor.  He was also FCIAC Honorable Mention.  While playing for Danbury High School, the lacrosse team made the state tournament twice, the first appearances ever for the program.  Former Danbury High girls lacrosse coach Lauren Scott states, "As a coach during the spring season, I was able to witness Dennis mentoring underclassmen, assisting them in their skill development and instilling confidence in his younger teammates.  This confidence resulted in the trust needed between teammates on the field to produce winning seasons and state tournament appearances.

After his graduation from Danbury High School, Dennis continued his education and lacrosse career at Western Connecticut State University.  He scored 207 career points, second all-time; with 134 assists, first all-time.  In 2008, Dennis led the Western lacrosse team to the Little East Conference championship.  He was LEC Tournament MVP.  Besides leading his team to the NCAA tournament, Dennis was a two-time team captain.  For three years he was named second team All-Conference and was a first-team LEC All-Conference player for a season.  Dennis currently holds records at WCSU in almost every category and sits atop the list in assists in a career, assists in a season and average assists in a game; a very unselfish record to hold.  Dennis graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a degree in history.
