This 2013 Danbury High Hall of Fame Inductee was co-captain of the 1973 football team that went undefeated and won the FCIAC Championship and finished #2 in the final state rankings. Peter was a three-year starter on both offense and defense for Coach Gus Edwards. As a freshman, his team went undefeated. Peter was twice named All-FCIAC running back and was All-State his senior year. One of the highlights of Peter's senior season was the Brien McMahon game. He caught a pass between three defenders to set up plays to run for a touchdown and two point conversion to tie the game with less than a minute to play to save the undefeated season and gain a berth to the championship game. Peter rushed for a total of 1,819 yards and scored 27 touchdowns in his amazing career at Danbury High School. Aside from his football honors, Peter was also a member of the DHS baseball team, starting for his junior and senior years and earning an invitation to the spring camp of the New York Yankees. After his graduation from Danbury High School, Peter continued his football career at Boston College. As a freshman, he played on the kick-off ‘special teams'. He earned varsity letters for his sophomore, junior, and senior years. While at Boston College, Peter played against Tony Dorsett, Earl Campbell, Hugh Green, Joe Montana and national powerhouses Texas, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Florida State. He once played a game in the Houston Superdome with President Ford in attendance. Other highlights of Peter's college career include a nationally televised Monday football game versus Notre Dame and a game versus Army when he caught three touchdown passes. After his Boston College years, Peter settled in Charlotte, North Carolina and volunteered with the YMCA and was Director of Youth Sports Ministry at Saint Thomas Catholic Church. He was an active booster club parent at Central Cabarrus High School in Concord, North Carolina and also coached his daughter's CYO basketball team. A member of the Myrtle Beach Rotary Club, Peter is currently a First Vice-President with Wells Fargo, the Community and Client Events Chairperson, Mid Atlantic Diversity Circle.
