This 2012 Hall of Fame inductee was the first four-sport athlete in the history of Danbury High School, Martin Green. Marty was an exceptional quarterback for Coach Gideon Roy and a gifted coach and educator for the Danbury school system. After his graduation from Danbury High, Marty continued his football career and education at Mount Saint Mary’s College in Emitsburg, Maryland. He played quarterback with Danbury High Hall of Fame inductees Walt Belardinelli who was in the backfield and Harold I. Starr, who was a receiver. When Marty graduated from college, he returned to Danbury High as a teacher and was an assistant football coach for ten years with Coach Ed “Copper” Crotty. Marty also coached DHS basketball. A man of many talents, Marty served as principal of Park Avenue School.
