This 1999 Danbury High graduate earned 10 varsity letters, 2011Hall of Fame inductee, Lindsay Sabel. She started on three varsity teams as a freshman, and cocaptained the soccer and basketball teams as a senior and was the softball team captain as a sophomore. Lindsay was also class president for four years, graduated fifth in her class and was a member of the National Honor Society. While at Danbury High School, Lindsay earned many athletic awards and honors. In soccer she was News- Times All Area in 1997, 1998, and 1999. Also in soccer she was second team All FCIAC in 1996 and 1996, and both All State and All FCIAC in 1997 and 1998. In basketball Lindsay received FCIAC honors and her teams made both the FCIAC and CIAC tournaments. Over two softball seasons, her teams won 25 games and made the FCIAC and CIAC tournaments. Lindsay's senior year in high school she was named FCIAC Principal's Scholar-Athlete winner. Lindsay continued her athletic and academic career at Yale University playing in goal for the soccer team and earning a B.A. degree in 2003. While at Yale she earned four varsity letters in soccer and was two time All Ivy League in 2001 and 2002. She led the Yale Women's Soccer team to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in the program's history in 2002. In the first round of the NCAA tournament that year, Lindsay made 23 saves against Villanova in regulation and two penalty kick saves to advance the Bulldogs past the first round. In 2003 Lindsay entered the financial industry as a marketer for a hedge fund in lower Fairfield County. Lindsay has completed two full marathons and a 13 mile kayak across Long Island Sound all for charity.
