While at Danbury High, Bob played center and tackle for the football team under Coach Ed “Copper” Crotty. Affectionately known as “The Owl”, he was also captain of the team and the winner of the Kiwanis Award. While at DHS his strong skills at shot-put and discus helped the track team win the Fairfield County championship. After his graduation from Danbury High, he continued his track and football career at Tufts University. He then returned to Danbury and earned his degree from the University of Bridgeport. While working many years for Eagle Pencil, he continued playing basketball, baseball and softball in local industrial and city leagues. He served the city of Danbury as a Councilman and as a member of the Planning Commission.
